There's an interesting conversation on Facebook (for once) concerning gun use in universities...

Discussing the rights to bear arm granted by the Second Amendment, someone decided to introduce the topic of whether students in universities should be allowed to bear arms.
It's interesting to note the time this amendment was made, and the availability of guns in this day and age. It is also interesting to note how lacking guns might prevent people from defending themselves from someone who is armed (assuming the would-be victim has had some gun training)
Should guns be outlawed in certain places? If they are outlawed to prevent such tragedies from occurring, but they still happen because the individual chooses to violate these rules, are the rules really protecting anyone?
The biggest problem with gun laws is that those that are going to shoot someone in cold blood are the same sort of people that are going to break these laws in the first place. If fact a large number of guns used in crimes are illegal already (stolen, carried by someone that can't by law, etc)
Heh, that's kinda what I had in mind in that third comment. I remarked to my parents when they came after the internation students in the Gay apts were killed, that the university put up "Gun-free Zone" signs...but what is a sign going to do?
Hehe, take it easy I'm writing it right now. Actually just finished it. It's not much, but the subject has been on my mind for a while now, so even if it's just a short entry, it helps me voice my thought. Here it is
